Five Parsecs Planetfall- Scout Recruitment

 Finally motivated myself to doing a bit more! And by a bit more, I mean a spready of various...stuff. I got a decent supply of new terrain done, which I'm hoping to get some pictures of up when I can start my first tutorial game involving the Scouts as written in the Planetfall book. Until then, here's some pictures of said scouts and how the Journal for the game is shaping up! The raptor alien had a little accident unfortunately, those ankles are very thin. I tried gluing it back in (and an edge of its armour got a little chipped and needs a dot of paint), but I'm not too confident in that glue job. If it breaks again, I might just brute force glue it down and just hide the messy joints with a bunch of tall grass. The handouts were made using this template.

Bio:
 Kade Sinclair is a qualified reconnaissance specialist proposed to serve as Second-in-Command Scout Officer, operating in support of the Chief Scout Officer. With a professional background in prospecting, Kade brings extensive field experience in resource identification, navigation, and remote operations.

Sinclair is the offspring of an asteroid mining family whose operations were reportedly compromised by internal betrayal, resulting in a pirate fleet attack. This history appears to inform a degree of internal conflict between pursuing resolution of past events and focusing on forward-looking objectives.

Notwithstanding these personal considerations, Sinclair’s practical expertise and operational resilience are well established. Their depth of experience positions them as a reliable and capable asset for scouting and exploratory missions.

Returning to wargaming with 15mm Five Parsecs

 Guess who is ostensibly back after what, three? Four? Years of not posting on here. A lot changed. I got super busy volunteering with a wargames store locally and even moved house. Said store is now closed while pending a hopeful move to a new location, and my new apartment has a good bit more floor space, which means hopefully more games. Specifically: Solo wargames!  I've already tried my hand at several solo journaling style RPGs, but next to try is my hand at Five Parsecs From Home. So, I've picked up a new table, sized it out to see what kind of space and terrain I'm working with (specifically in 15mm) and rolled up a crew. I'll be working in 15mm for two reasons. Some soldiers and some terrain.

 Got the first enemy group for Five Parsecs From Home painted up, and a little terrain in the works. The original plan was to do the not-space orks, but I got half way through and decided I hated the paintjob on them so changed tracks to the Generic Soldier Types to avoid ramming my head into the wall on the orks. The minis are Neu Swabian League from Ground Zero Games. Primed black, heavy dry brush with a Wizard Grey (2 Thin Coats), trying to hit the panels while keeping the black recesses. Hit it with a Nuln wash (GW), and went back over with another drybrush of Wizard Grey following with a lighter drybrush of Carcharodon Grey (2TC). The weapons were done in a basic silver (Dark Steel from Vallejo Mecha Colour was the first one I picked up) with a black wash and a little silver touch up. Five Parsecs Planetfall - Letter to the Administrator

 My excitement to start a 5PFH campaign got almost immediately stymied upon seeing that a new side game for it featuring colony founding adventures was in the works, as I may have mentioned already. I still have some ideas for the main campaign in the future, but having a more structured colony style game got me a lot more excited immediately. It also means from a practical perspective I can round out my terrain supply in a more structured way, as well as getting my 15mm models painted up in a way of "I need these ones next" on a slower, more pre-planned way given rather than multiple lists of possible opponents, there's only ever 3 "Tactical Threats" that appear at set intervals. So that helps with a slower more structured collection growth. So having rolled up a colony, we got ourselves a Corporate Sponsored new colony on the planet of Zisa's Tear (the corporate backing giving us extra points of interest on the map before we start).
