Haven't posted in awhile, but I also! Don't have new minis painted, oops. I do have a good chunk of terrain worked on though, and have started posting over on  Lead Adventure  too! A lot of the terrain is in various half finished states, but between the urban stuff, the trees and some (garden) rocks I currently have drying off to make (wargame) rocks, I feel like I'm in a pretty solid position terrain wise.  The urban board needs more styrene ordering to continue work on the pavement too whoops. As for my talk of starting a 5PFH campaign....well that session 0 I posted about may get put on hold. Turns out Nordic Weasel released their Planetfall colony running game in the same universe, and I got the idea of using that to develop a planet from its early days and use 5 Parsecs and 5 Leagues travel rules to play around in a one planet sandbox of landship RV roadtripping mercs more in the style of Borderlands. So will have to see how that goes. Anyway, time for pictures...

Some soldiers and some terrain.

Got the first enemy group for Five Parsecs From Home painted up, and a little terrain in the works. The original plan was to do the not-space orks, but I got half way through and decided I hated the paintjob on them so changed tracks to the Generic Soldier Types to avoid ramming my head into the wall on the orks. The minis are Neu Swabian League from Ground Zero Games. Primed black, heavy dry brush with a Wizard Grey (2 Thin Coats), trying to hit the panels while keeping the black recesses. Hit it with a Nuln wash (GW), and went back over with another drybrush of Wizard Grey following with a lighter drybrush of Carcharodon Grey (2TC). The weapons were done in a basic silver (Dark Steel from Vallejo Mecha Colour was the first one I picked up) with a black wash and a little silver touch up. Shoulder and weapon details were an Ultramarine Blue (Army Painter Warpaints) just to add a splash of colour and break up the grey. Helmet visors were just a Retributor Armour (GW), with the two ...

Campaign Turn 0 - The dice rolling bit

Turn 0 of a new campaign, so lets get rolling some dice \o/ Prepare for a LOT of text. I went for a full random spread of Crew Members to start out and got: (94) Strange Character (05) Human (63) Primary Alien (88) Bot (15) Human (74) Primary Alien. So Two humans, two aliens, a bot and a strange character. Follow up rolls gave me (74) on the Strange Character table for an "Emo Suppressed", and a (52) and (100) on the updated Primary Alien table from the 5Parsecs Compendium giving me a Precursor and a Swift. I'll also be using a random name table on donjon for the names as well as the tables in the Compendium.  For Human 1 (Ennin Marte) we get a background roll of (05), so they come from a "Giant, Overcrowded Dystopian City" for +1" to Speed. Their motivation is (88) Power, so get +2XP and a starting Rival, and their Class was (01), Working Class for +1 Savvy and +1 Luck For Human 2 (Cordell Cayne) we get a background  roll (51) War Torn Hellhole for +1 Re...

Returning to wargaming with 15mm Five Parsecs

Image
Guess who is ostensibly back after what, three? Four? Years of not posting on here. A lot changed. I got super busy volunteering with a wargames store locally and even moved house. Said store is now closed while pending a hopeful move to a new location, and my new apartment has a good bit more floor space, which means hopefully more games. Specifically: Solo wargames!  I've already tried my hand at several solo journaling style RPGs, but next to try is my hand at Five Parsecs From Home. So, I've picked up a new table, sized it out to see what kind of space and terrain I'm working with (specifically in 15mm) and rolled up a crew. I'll be working in 15mm for two reasons. One; I'm still unemployed so 15mm is as ever a nice economic solution with still a lot of character (and I have a good few minis in that scale already). Two; while I could fit a 3 foot by 3 foot table in my space, it would be a LITTLE too big to keep set up comfortably, and a 2x2 board feels a lot le...

Aeronautica Imperialis - Imperial Starter

Image
And here we have the Imperial side of the Wings of Vengeance starter. Went for different armour colours for fighters and bombers but kept the orange squad markings the same instead to show squadrons pulled from different theatres which seemed in keeping with the Imperial Navy. Colours Used Wraithbone Base Metals Leadbelcher Metals Basilicanum Grey over the Leadbelcher Leadbelcher Drybrush Gold Leadbelcher Retributor Armour picked out areas  Agrax Wash Baslicanum Grey for the Thunderbolt Armour Army Painter Ash Grey Drybrush Skeleton Horde for the Bomber Armour Ushabti Drybrush Aethermatic Blue windows Fleshtearers Missile tips Black Templar bomb and missiles Gryph hound orange markings

Aeronautica Imperialis- Ork Starter

Image
Picked up the Wings of Vengeance starter set for Aeronautica before Christmas, and here are the results of the Ork half of the box. 2 Fighta Bommaz and 3 Dakkajets. Trying to get myself used to "Good Enough" with my painting instead of agonizing over what my hands can't do now. Colours used:   Wraithbone (Base) Talassar Blue (Body) Iyanden Yellow (Panels) Blood Angels Red (Panels) Leadbelcher (Metals) Black Templar (Some details and canopy) Calgar Blue (Drybrush) Flesh Tearers Red (Rokkit Tips) Nuln Oil (wash on the dakkajets to try it) Agrax Earthshade (Washed the Fightas. Think I prefer it to the Nuln)

Twilight- World of Anyaral

Image
Twilight, other than being a movie franchise, also applies to the name of the miniatures game, and a gorgeous one at that. Twilight The World of Anyaral is a delightful little wargame with adorable little lizard people. I got some minis from it years ago one Salute, and since have been messing with them on and off (and repainting them somewhat as I kept lacking that specific inspiration for a scheme). Dusting them off since I moved house, I finally settled on a scheme I like for the Devanu, the outcast former masters of Anyaral and Giant Raptor People. So lets start putting some pictures of them up. The Grishak were done with two coats of Aethermatic Blue, with Akhelian Green down the spine. The beaks and claws were done in skeleton horde, the mouths with Volupus Pink and the eyes with Iyanden Yellow. Finally they were drybrushed with Temple Guard Blue and Ushabti Bone. The Devanu got a coat of Fyreslayer Flesh for the skin, and Gore Grunta Fur for the scale patches. The inside of...
